Look. . .brighten
my goddam corner
Will you?
Go make some
cooking smells,
point out a fat
lady in pink,
show me a pretty
kid
who
isn’t a snot and doesn’t start
every sentence
fragment with “I.”
Bring me one
skinny flower and say,
“I thought of you
today.” I would
like a
flower. I would smell it
and carry it in
my hand. Play me
some Mozart I can
hum and
I will hum all
day. For you.
Put the magazine
on the couch. . .
I’ll read it later-
- I’m not afraid.
It’s November and
I’m alive. . .
What is this
teary talk of Love?
. . .Off with
hose clothes! Dance, or dust
this room. . .or
me, I don’t care.
With what? Use your slip. . .Sweet Christ!
Where do you
think dust comes from?
